Battle for Britannia update is a flop

  • Hello,

First of all, I would like to invite others to share their thoughts on the new update as well.

Let’s start with the dungeons and the issues related to them.

    1. Dungeons do not provide more gold or experience

This is a major downside, especially because many players expected this to be changed in the new update and at least somewhat balanced compared to expeditions. At the moment, the rewards are still roughly the same as they were around level 30-40, which is honestly ridiculous. It feels like no one really thought this through.

    2. The Underworld costume for dungeons

I do not understand why the dungeon point values still have not been adjusted to match the expedition points we get from the Underworld costume for expeditions. Right now, this costume is not only useless because of that, but I will also explain in the next points why it continues to be ignored.

    3. Dungeon loot drops

The new update brought a lot of uncertainty about whether this would finally be changed or remain the same as always. Unfortunately, as players, we were disappointed once again. The drop rate of rare items in dungeons has remained unchanged. If you compare 200 expedition points and 200 dungeon points, the difference is absurd. On expeditions, you can get 20+ orange items and several red ones, while in dungeons nothing has changed from the same amount of points, I received only one orange item. Because of this, the Underworld costume for dungeons continues to be ignored, since there is simply no point in investing in it considering the amount of experience, gold, and the poor drop rate of rare items from dungeons.

Now let’s move on to the next part of the update: the “scrolls.”

Let’s now move on to the next part of the update, new "scrolls

    1. New scrolls

The fact that new scrolls were added is definitely something many players appreciate, especially high-level players. However, this also has its downsides. Most of these scrolls have very weak stat combinations, as if they were generated by AI or designed by someone who has little to no experience with the game. Of course, this is only an initial opinion, since many scrolls have not been discovered yet. As we know, even before the update there were many scrolls, but only a few of them were actually useful, so I will leave this point open for now.

    2. Scroll exclusivity

A lot of players expected that with the new update, these scrolls would be exclusive and available only in dungeons and the Underworld. Unfortunately, this turned out not to be the case, which may be disappointing for some and positive for others. In my opinion, this takes away any real purpose from the new dungeons. Even ignoring all the issues mentioned above, the fact that most of these scrolls are also available in expeditions reduces their uniqueness and overall value.

    3. Old scroll ingredients

Another issue is that some of the newly available scrolls in expeditions require ingredients such as Hellstones. In my opinion, this should be removed, because it heavily affects the economy of these materials, which were previously obtained mainly through recoloring or by getting red items in the Underworld.

    Summary

Some people may disagree with my opinion, while others may support it, but in my view, many things still need to be changed especially dungeon drop rates, dungeon experience rewards, and the Underworld costume for dungeons so that players actually have a meaningful choice.

Right now, dungeons feel pointless in this update. They might as well not exist, because aside from being filler content, they bring nothing of real value if the new prefixes and suffixes can still be obtained from expeditions anyway.

Another thing that will probably need to be changed is the scroll system itself. As I mentioned earlier, we do not yet have access to all scrolls, but at the moment most of them seem to be focused mainly on block chance, while there is barely anything that supports critical hit chance.

  • First of all play the Update a few weeks and then you can post such a statement, but not right now a few hours after the update.

What do u need few weeks for? Only thing u need weeks for is the scrolls and also i said that atm the scrolls point is open, the rest u dont need to wait weeks for. Suddenly in few weeks i will be getting more xp or gold from dungeons? I will get more drops? Or atleast half of expedition drops

  • That is not the point. We screamed for new dungeons in every post the last years and I give up to believe in it. And now we got an Update and the only thing you can do, is to criticize it. Of course not everything is perfect and there are some improvements to do, but enjoy the new content and be happy that we got an update.

How do you expect something to change if you don't provide any feedback?

Right now I'm doing Marshes of Death, which is the dungeon unlocked at 150 level.

Single monster gives 3 XP and around 1500 Gold (WITH UNDERWORLD MEDIUM COSTUME ACTIVE, believe it or not, that's 100% more gold bonus :D).

Compared to the 25-30 XP and 15000-24000 Gold from 150 Expedition boss Camp Cassivellaunus - Cassivellaunus. (That's without even costume buffing the expeditions..)

Difference is mental, completely kills any incentive towards using Underworld Medium costume or even going there to complete it, besides going through it on your way towards unlocking Underworld Hard.

Now, why should dungeons loot, drop quality, amount of XP and gold be drastically buffed?

    A) It takes much more points to complete SINGLE dungeon and kill SINGLE dungeon boss, than just kill the same expedition boss over and over, which costs just 1 point, not 10-18 like some dungeons in the game.

    B) We get much less dungeon points than expeditions (no apollo pact support for dungeons), only 24 points with Centurio, 48 with Centurio + Underworld medium costume.

    C) Dungeons require much more from a player to complete - clone of character + 4 mercenaries, that's 5 different characters to gear... For what? Bunch of useless green-blue items and laughable amount of XP and Gold...

    D) Underworld Medium is harder to complete to gain Underworld costume for dungeons, than it's Expedition counterpart which has lower level mobs than the player.

    E) That would completely change the current meta of just doing Underworld Normal or Hard, giving players more ways to play the game, finally Underworld Medium costume would have a use for anything.

For now you are better not using it at all, there are plenty non-Underworld costumes which will give you so much better results at the game.

  • Hey, I was looking forward to some dungeons after many-many years of basically not touching my dungeon points as I was lazy to travel back and forth.

I've completed the new dungeon 22 times already, and have not received any Orange items yet...I'd like to emphasize that I have not received ANY purple items either.

At this point the average value of the items I get is between 15-25k gold.

I agree with you, and I would also really like to see the devs give some meaning to dungeons + ud Medium armor as I once again find myself just simply not being excited about killing the boss of the dungeon if he only drops green/blue gear.

Also since they pushed some major updates I have some slight hope they'll eventually have some captcha-based bot protection implemented soon. I find it absurd that 99% of the high level players are just botting.

  • I agree with practically everything that Never3K wrote here.

I only have one small criticism: I don’t mind that scrolls drop from expeditions — exclusivity doesn’t really matter to me.

I’d also like to say that I’m glad for this update. It may not be the best one, but updates in Gladiatus are quite rare, which is strange considering it’s the most played browser game on the market.

Unfortunately, the update has some unfinished parts, but I believe these issues can be fixed, and I’m already looking forward to how it will look once that happens.

So to sum it up: if there were a poll on whether to make some bigger adjustments to the update, as Never3K suggested, I would vote YES.
